cell efficiency and a driving range of 666 km (WLTP).
Its dedicated vehicle architecture delivers improved
power-to-weight ratio, faster acceleration and cabin
Aside from water, the All-New NEXO has zero tailpipe emissions. And what’s more, it also filters and purifies the air as it drives. It actually reduces fine dust pollution. In order to work well in the fuel cell stack, the incoming air must be purified. The NEXO’s highly efficient and durable high-performance air filter removes micro-particulates smaller than particulate matter (PM) 2.5 in size. In short, when air filters through the NEXO, 99.9 % of particulates are purified. The purified air that is not used in the fuel cell gets expelled, leaving the outside air cleaner than before. The touch screen displays the amount of air purification and C02 reduction that is achieved. The air purification feature does not create increased maintenance.Play video

Equipped with a revolutionary fuel-cell system, NEXO is truly a glimpse at the future of transportation – and is available in select markets starting in 2018. The zero-emission FCEV runs on hydrogen and proves that an eco-friendly powertrain can fully support the energy demands of every day commuting and long distance driving. Improving upon Hyundai’s acclaimed ix35 fuel cell, acceleration and power have been improved along with overall efficiency and fuel economy.
The fuel cell stack, electric motor, battery and hydrogen tanks work together to power the All-New NEXO Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV). When hydrogen stored in the tanks enters the fuel cell stack, it is broken down into protons and electrons. The flow of electrons created in the fuel cell provides electricity that drives the electric motor, and the protons react with oxygen molecules from the air, generating heat and water – the only emission.
Step 1 Hydrogen stored in the three tanks is
supplied to the fuel cell stack.
Step 2 An inflow of air is supplied to the fuel
Step 3 The reaction of air and hydrogen
in the fuel cell stack generates electricity
Step 4 Generated electricity is supplied to
the electric motor.
Step 5 The water created in the reaction is emitted – NEXO’s only tailpipe emission. Hydrogen is a versatile, clean, and safe energy carrier. Generating zero emissions at point of use, it can be produced from renewable electricity and from carbon-abated fossil fuels, thereby achieving completely zero-emission pathways.
The system recuperates additional energy by using the electric motor to slow the vehicle instead of the brakes. The energy generated by the recuperative braking system is saved in the battery, helping NEXO maintain a healthy state of charge(SOC) in its 1.56kWh battery, which also helps power the vehicle.
The driver can easily adjust the level of recuperative braking through the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
With a filling time of just 5 minutes and a driving range of 666 kilometres (WLTP), the All-New NEXO proves that
an eco-friendly powertrain can fully support the energy demands of every day commuting and long distance driving.
For more convenience, the navigation screen provides hydrogen fuelling service information and service at a glance:

NEXO offers plenty of room for both passengers and cargo with a trunk capacity of 461 litres (VDA). And the 60/40 split-folding rear seats fold flat to give you more flexibility and cargo space when you need it.
Assistance Systems (ADAS). NEXO is leading the way forward with the highest level of ADAS in any mass
brand. New technologies including self-parking and lane following features.
Lane Following Assist (LFA)
In a first for Hyundai, NEXO features Lane Following Assist (LFA). When activated, it keeps the SUV centred in its lane at speeds between 0 and 145 kilometres per hour on highways and city streets. The system senses the car’s position in the lane and warns the driver acoustically and visually so they can correct their position. If the driver doesn’t react, the system then induces corrective steering to guide the vehicle back to a safe position.
Blind-spot Collision-avoidance Assist (BCA)
Using 2 radar sensors in the lower rear bumper, the system visually warns you of traffic in the blind spot area. Should you set the turn indicator in such a situation, the Lane Change Assist will sound an acoustic and a visual alert.
Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA)
Sensing the road ahead with radar and a camera, the FCA system automatically brakes when it detects sudden braking by the car ahead or pedestrians on the road. It initially warns the driver visually and acoustically, then it controls the brake according to the collision danger stage and applies maximum braking force to avoid a collision. The system is activated when a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist is sensed in front of the car, operating at speeds of 10 km/h or above.
An industry-first, Hyundai’s Blind-Spot View Monitor shows drivers rear and side views on the centre cluster screen – when changing lanes in either direction. It also enhances visibility in dark and rainy conditions. The system uses wide-angle surround view monitors on each side of the vehicle to monitor areas that cannot be seen by a traditional rear-view mirror. Hyundai is the first automaker to provide drivers video footage from both sides of the vehicle.
Parking just got much easier. RSPA enables NEXO to autonomously park or retrieve itself from a parking space with or without a driver in the car. The RSPA system can even back into a parking spot by itself at the touch of a button. Designed especially for narrow parking spaces and drivers who don’t enjoy parking in difficult spots.
